Good luck to ex-WHS Students, Nick Miller and Lauren Smith, who will be competing for Team GB in the Olympic Games in Rio. Nick is a hammer thrower and Lauren is a badminton player. We will all be cheering them on in August.
The dates Nick will be competing are:
- Heats – 17 August
- Final – 19 August
- Medals – 20 August
Nick is the face of William Howard School Alumni. He was at William Howard School before moving to America to concentrate on his studies and sports career. Nick finishes at Oklahoma State University this year before moving on to his career in pro sport hammer throwing.
Nick has graduated with a 2:1 equivalent and he was also a recipient of the Senior Director’s Award which is selected by a committee and presented to the senior student-athletes who have successfully maintained a balance in academic work while making a difference in their sports. This award goes to those seniors who exemplify what student-athletes should be and Nick was awarded his for men’s track and field. In the USA Nick has won every big championship over the 4 years he has competed, and established a new competition record.
