Talented photographers of all ages have been revealed by our calendar competition.

Organisers of the year-long Landscapes and Photography Competition were delighted to be inundated with entries. They sifted through almost 600 photos to find a winning selection to take monthly prizes – and to feature in the trust’s first home-produced calendar.

Pupils, students and staff from CET’s eight primary and three secondary schools photographed idyllic country scenes, natural beauty, wildlife and local landmarks for the contest.

Now their efforts are to feature in a 2022/23 academic year calendar, on sale in the summer term, in support of local children’s charities.

The overall competition winner was Will Speirs, from Year 8 at Workington Academy. He receives a Canon camera for himself and £500 worth of photography equipment for his school, both courtesy of competition sponsor Wilkinson Cameras.

Nic Tweddle, CET Assistant Headteacher and Student Events Lead, said: “We’ve been blown away by the quality and quantity of photos submitted. There are some stunning shots and it’s been great to see entries from our youngest pupils, through to the older students, and our teaching and support staff also getting involved.

“The calendar has some wonderful images of Cumbria so will look great on a wall at home or work and will also raise some funds for very deserving causes.”
