More than 200 young people from across CET had fun in the sun taking part in a day of outdoor events.

Year 4 children from across our eight primary schools enjoyed the Be The Best You Can Be Sports Day at Cumbria Sports Academy at the Copeland Stadium in Whitehaven. They took part in a range of activities including a mini-Olympics, tag rugby and dance.

Sports Leaders and Student Ambassadors from CET’s three secondary schools led the events, supporting and encouraging the younger participants throughout the day.

Nic Tweddle, CET Assistant Headteacher and Student Events Lead, said: “It was fantastic to have so many young people from across all of our CET schools collaborating and coming together ‘As One’, enjoying the West Cumbrian sunshine and being a part of such a positive event.

“All of our Year 4’s had huge smiles on their faces throughout the day, displayed exemplary behaviour and were energetic and enthusiastic. Both the participants and those leading were fantastic ambassadors for CET throughout the day.

“Thanks must also go to our staff for making enriching and memorable events such as this possible for our students.”

The Year 4 event followed similar cross-trust celebrations for Years 2 and 6. The former visited Workington Academy in February for a multi sports festival and the latter went to William Howard School in Brampton in November for a netball festival.

Next year the initiative will be extended to all primary age groups.
