On 21st October, all Cumbria Education Trust (CET) secondary schools gathered to compete in the inaugural CET Inclusive Sports Event, hosted by William Howard School (WHS).

Tracey Croucher, Inclusion Lead at WHS, along with Debbie Davies from Panathlon facilitated the event, bringing the Panathlon Xtend Multi-Sports activities and training a group of WHS Year 9 Sports Leaders to manage each of the eight stations.

Seven teams participated in total: two from The Whitehaven Academy, two from Workington Academy, and three from William Howard School.

For several hours, students rotated through the various activities, accumulating points for their teams under the guidance of the Sports Leaders. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and encouragement as students cheered one another on.

All participants are to be commended for their enthusiasm and effort, as well as the kindness and support they showed to their teammates throughout the day.

Thank you to the Year 9 Sports Leaders – Aiden, Amy, Caitlin, Charlie, Elena, Emily, Georgina, Hattie, Harry, Harvey, Isla, Kayden, Liam, Lucy, Luke, and Thea – who led the activities with impressive dedication. Staff from other schools commended them for their kindness and support towards their peers.

A heartfelt thank you to Debbie Davies from Panathlon; everyone agreed it would be great to book her again for next year!
