Yesterday, we welcomed back colleagues from across Cumbria Education Trust (CET) for a day of collaboration, reflection and focus on the year ahead.

Our mission this year is clear: From Good to Great. At CET, we exist to advance education for public benefit. We want every student and staff member to Be the Best They Can Be, guided by our values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility, with inclusion at the heart of our strategy.

This year’s INSET expanded on our new hub model, bringing together schools from the Northern, Southern and Western areas to strengthen relationships across our Trust. Following a welcome introduction, each hub explored the Trust Improvement Plan (TIP), aligning staff in shared goals and priorities for the year ahead.

Interactive tasks encouraged idea-sharing and collaboration across roles and schools, ensuring every voice was heard. Staff also examined how the hub model values each school’s contribution, and how learning and support can be shared both within and across hubs.

In the afternoon, sessions focused more closely on departmental priorities, giving teachers and support staff the opportunity to address challenges and opportunities in their specific areas.

“I am always grateful for the hard work of our staff, and their enthusiasm during INSET reaffirms my belief that purposeful collaboration will bring great results for our young people. Reinforcing our vision, values and mission ensures everyone understands what they can bring to the trust as a whole – we operate as a family of schools.”

INSET Day is always a key date in the calendar – a chance to come together, align our vision and energise our teams. We look forward welcoming all our students back on Wednesday 3rd September.
