Pupils from across Cumbria Education Trust’s primary schools came together for a day of maths, teamwork and problem solving at the annual CET Maths Challenge, hosted by William Howard School.

A total of 48 Year 6 pupils, forming 12 teams of four, travelled from all twelve CET primary schools to take part in the exciting competition. Throughout the day, pupils tackled a variety of fast-paced rounds designed to test their mathematical thinking, logic and teamwork.

The challenge included relay rounds, logic puzzles, quiz questions and even a music round, keeping teams on their toes as the leaderboard changed throughout the day. The atmosphere was full of energy and enthusiasm as pupils worked together to solve problems and earn points for their teams.

After a closely contested competition, Stramongate Primary School’s team, The Stramongate Stars, secured first place, demonstrating impressive teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the event.

Second place was awarded to Yewdale Primary School’s team, The McMaths Makers, with Castle Park School’s team, The Castle Park Calculators, finishing in third place.

All participating teams showed fantastic determination and enthusiasm throughout the day.
