Cumbria Education Trust are delighted to announce that they are working in collaboration with Cumbrian Business, More Handles for our “My Money Week” competition. More Handles was set up back in 2007 with the ethos of bringing ‘MORE Value MORE Choice and MORE Service’ to the ironmongery trade. After over 10 years of online trading More Handles have established themselves as the best choice for ironmongery and architectural hardware in the UK and beyond, supplying thousands of customers each week in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and beyond. More Handles currently operate two branches in the Cumbria area; One in Carlisle serving North Cumbria, North East, and South Scotland, and another branch in Kendal serving the Lake District, South Cumbria and Lancashire.
This year’s competition is to design a front door and handle with the theme of Cumbria. This can be favourite places to visit in Cumbria perhaps on your daily walks, it could be people from Cumbria or even products made in Cumbria. The design will be the whole door including the handle! You can download the competition form below. If you would rather just draw a design and send a photo in that would be great too. On your entry we need your name, school, year group and reason for your design. The competition closes the week after half term and there will be a prize of a Junior ISA of £50 for each winner in each school, with the overall winner receiving £100. The winners will be decided by More Handles and the money awarded to winning students and pupils in each school comes from a prize fund we received as a Financial Education Centre of Excellence in 2015.
Over the past four years this competition has been a key point in the school year and an opportunity to see the fantastic work that our students and pupils are able to create. In the past we have worked with Innovia Security designing a Cumbrian Bank Note, Cumberland Building Society designing a Cumbria piggy bank design for savers, Lake District Pound on what should be on their notes linked to Cumbria and last year we worked with Carlisle Lake District Airport designing an item with a Cumbrian Theme that they could give to their first 100 passengers.
We are really excited to see what our students and pupils can design this year and look forward to seeing all your creative entries. Good Luck!
