Across the county, Sixth Form students collected their A-Level results today, marking the end of their secondary school journey. For students at West Coast Sixth Form—a collaborative venture between The Whitehaven Academy and Workington Academy—and William Howard School, this day was not just about grades but a celebration of years of dedication, hard work, and resilience.
Our schools opened their doors early this morning, welcoming back students eagerly awaiting their results. Teachers and staff were on hand to congratulate the students.
West Coast Sixth Form
Mark Bedford, Headteacher at Workington Academy, said, “Results this year demonstrate yet again the resilience of Cumbrian youngsters and their dedication to their studies. Today is about celebrating some of the incredible achievements of our young people. It is for this reason that we like to recognise the individual success stories and congratulate all the young people on their achievements today and wish them all the very best for the future.”
Nigel Youngman, Headteacher at The Whitehaven Academy added, “These results reflect a positive attitude and real determination across both sites. Whether students have studied academic or vocational qualifications, they can be proud of their achievements. One of the pleasures of being part of Cumbria Education Trust is being part of a dedicated team of professionals who have supported our students to achieve success within such a warm community. A huge thank you to colleagues and families alike for their support. It is exciting to think about the opportunities that these results have opened up for our students. All of us wish them well and look forward to hearing from them in years to come. A big well done all round.”
