New Leadership Appointments at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School and Castle Carrock Primary School
Following a thorough assessment and selection process, we are pleased to announce two key leadership appointments within our schools.
Kirkby Stephen Grammar School (KSGS)
Nic Tweddle has been appointed as the new Head of School at KSGS, effective from 1st September 2025.
Nic is well known within CET, as she is currently the Assistant Headteacher at Workington Academy and is part of CET’s Central Team, where she played a key role in leadership development and student events. Since November 2024, she has also been actively supporting KSGS as CET Deputy Headteacher, providing her with valuable insight into the school’s community and strategic direction. She will be supported in her new role by Jon Hayes, Interim Executive Headteacher.
Nic commented, “I am delighted to have been appointed Head of School. KSGS is a fantastic school with so much potential and I am truly excited to get to know and work with all members of the school community and to lead the school through the next chapter of its journey toward excellence, as part of CET”.
Lorrayne Hughes, Chief Executive, commented, “It is fantastic to see Nic progress through CET to become Head of School at KSGS. She has been an integral part of the leadership team since the inception of CET and I am confident she will continue to drive high standards at KSGS”.

Castle Carrock Primary School (CC)
Sarah Lee has been appointed as Headteacher on a permanent basis at CC. Having previously served as Interim Headteacher, Sarah is already well integrated into the school and has demonstrated a deep commitment to its growth and development. Her leadership is expected to further the school’s ongoing development, with a focus on nurturing excellence in education.
Sarah said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at CC and am thrilled to now be the permanent Headteacher of such a wonderful school. I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the very best for the pupils, staff, parents and the community.”
Lorrayne Hughes added, “Sarah has been a central part of CC over the past year, and I am delighted she is now the permanent Headteacher. With her dedication and passion for education, I am sure she will continue to strive for excellence for the young people of Castle Carrock”.
Both appointments signal a commitment to strong leadership and continued improvement at the respective schools. We wish both Nic and Sarah the best in their new roles.
