On Thursday and Friday, primary Headteachers from across the Trust came together for a focused two-day conference dedicated to improving consistency, deepening professional practice, and strengthening leadership across our schools.

The event centred around the development of systems and processes to support school improvement, with a clear focus on teaching and learning. Supported by Mark Gregory from One World, the conference provided a timely opportunity for leaders to align, reflect, and prepare for the year ahead.

The first day focused on exploring the newly launched scope and sequence teaching and learning framework. Leaders engaged in a series of coaching activities, applying deliberate practice techniques to help embed consistent pedagogical approaches and drive improvement in classroom practice.

The second day shifted focus to the Primary Agreed Practice document, where leaders reviewed the Trust-wide expectations around ‘core’ and ‘preferred’ practices. A deep dive into hosting effective pupil progress meetings provided practical tools to support evidence-informed decision-making, followed by exploration of the shared Trust calendar – setting the rhythm of the year and ensuring clarity and alignment across all schools.

Throughout both days, the atmosphere was one of professional curiosity and shared purpose. With practical strategies and structured discussion, school leaders left better equipped to lead with confidence, consistency, and clarity.

Cate Floyd, Executive Principal, commented, “At our Primary Headteacher Conference, leaders didn’t just talk coaching – they practiced it. A powerful clinic of deliberate practice, setting the tone for confident, connected leadership this September.”

This conference continues on the shared journey our leaders take within CET, striving towards even stronger collaboration and an unrelenting focus on high-quality teaching and learning across every CET primary school.
