Kirkby Stephen Grammar School are officially the second best U18 school girls’ hockey team in the country after collecting a silver medal at the National Hockey Finals in Nottingham on Monday, 9th February.
The team progressed to the national stage by winning their district, county and regional competitions, before narrowly missing out in the final to claim second place overall.
KSGS were the only state school to reach the finals and were also one of the smallest schools at the tournament, fielding the youngest squad, with pupils from Years 10 to 13 representing the school.
A special shout out to Martha, who finished the tournament as top goal scorer, a fantastic personal achievement to add to an already remarkable team performance.
And huge congratulations to Head of PE, Helen Paul, and every single member of the squad. You should all be very proud of how you’ve represented your school and community.
