Four schools across Cumbria Education Trust have been selected to participate in the GB Energy Solar Energy Partnership, following confirmation of Department for Education funding in late September.

Solar panel installations are now progressing at The Whitehaven Academy, Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, Newtown Primary School and Petteril Bank School.

These projects have moved forward at pace and have required significant input from our Trust Estates team to bring them to this stage, contractors are on site now, with work to be completed by late February.

The installations will result in significant energy savings across the four schools, helping to reduce one of the largest pressures on school budgets while also supporting our wider sustainability ambitions.

This investment represents an important step in strengthening our estate for the future, ensuring our schools are more efficient, resilient and environmentally responsible.

A huge thank you to the Estates team for driving this forward and to colleagues across the schools for their support as we move into the delivery phase.
