Sue Newstead

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may have seen recent news coverage about proposed national reforms to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision. We understand that such headlines can cause uncertainty and it is completely natural to have questions or concerns about what these changes might mean for your child.

As Director of Learning Provision, I am committed to using these reforms as an opportunity to strengthen provision for every child. I am pleased that the government is focusing on SEND and I will personally be supporting the SENCOs in every school across our trust, ensuring they have the guidance and information they need to make the right provision for each individual.

Additionally, I will be working strategically with external partners to ensure that the overall vision for the reforms is realised. However, the most important partnership will be with you and we will ensure that there are multiple opportunities to engage with us.It is important to note that national reforms are typically implemented over an extended period, with detailed guidance emerging gradually.

As we receive more information, we will keep you fully updated and provide clear explanations of any changes that might affect you and your child. If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to your child’s SENCO, who will be very happy to support you.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and trust.

Yours sincerely,
Sue Newstead
Director of Learning Provision
