Last week, Cumbria Education Trust’s ITT cohort took part in an engaging professional clinic on Creating a Culture of Error, led by Des Bird, Director of Secondary Education, alongside Alannah Savage.

The session focused on the importance of building strong relationships with students and creating a classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported and confident to learn from their mistakes.

Trainees explored approaches to preventing disruptive behaviour and discussed practical strategies for developing a positive classroom climate. The session encouraged trainees to think carefully about how teachers can respond to errors in a way that supports learning, builds confidence and strengthens pupil engagement.

Des shared strategies from his wealth of experience in education, offering practical guidance and examples that trainees can implement and develop throughout their teaching careers.

Cumbria Education Trust would like to thank Des for his time and insight, and to all involved in supporting another excellent ITT session.

At CET, we are proud to support the next generation of teachers as they continue to grow in confidence, skill and professional understanding.
