Induction events for our autumn 2022 NPQ intake brought together teaching staff and school leaders from across Cumbria and further afield.
Cumbria Education Trust is once again working in partnership with Ambition Institute to deliver the reformed NPQ (National Professional Qualification) courses.
Participants started their journey on six new courses with in-person introductory sessions at Rheged. Here they were able to gain insight into the journey ahead and to meet fellow professionals and share experiences.
NPQs are prestigious professional qualifications, widely recognised in the education sector. They are voluntary and designed to support the professional development of teachers and school leaders at all levels, in both the primary and secondary sector.
The DfE accredited programmes provided by Ambition Institute are for teachers and leaders who want to expand their knowledge and skills in specialist areas of teaching practice and school leadership and are a prime driver in transforming professional development in schools.
All 12 or 18-month programmes are delivered and facilitated by our highly skilled team of Ambition Institute trained and qualified Visiting Fellows.
The autumn intake saw the first participants take up two new NPQs on offer.
The NPQLL for Leading Literacy is for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading literacy across a school, year group, key stage or phase.
And the NPQEYL for Early Years Leadership is for leaders qualified to at least level 3 with a full and relevant qualification who are, or aspire to be, an early years foundation stage leader in a state funded school, manager of private, voluntary and independent nurseries, headteacher of school-based or maintained nurseries or childminders with leadership responsibilities.
Participants also started four other recognised courses:
- NPQH, for Headteachers or aspiring Headteachers.
- NPQSL, for Senior Leaders or aspiring Senior Leaders.
- NPQLBC, Leading Behaviour and Culture, for those responsible for leading behaviour and/or supporting pupil wellbeing.
- NPQLT, Leading Teaching, for those responsible for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase.
